Farmers Insurance Hawaii is calling on aspiring songwriters statewide to help promote safe driving and pedestrian safety through a fun and entertaining public service campaign. You are invited to enter the Farmers Insurance Hawaii Traffic Safety Jingle Contest by writing lyrics to encourage safe driving to an original music entitled “Drive Safe” composed by ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. One lucky winner will receive a 30-minute jam session with Jake Shimabukuro and a $500 Apple Gift Card! The winning jingle will be used to promote safe driving and keeping Hawaii’s streets safe for pedestrians. Entrants are invited to send in their submissions throughout the duration of the contest, from May 11-June 7, 2011.
Download the sheet music and a MP3 of Jake's original composition below, which you can use to creatively compose lyrics and an entertaining video performance. The video should be family friendly, creative, and encourage safe driving or pedestrian safety.
Submissions will be posted here from May 11-June 7 where the public will have a chance to vote for their five favorite performances. All five finalists will be invited to perform for the grand prize at the Road Runner Music Hall at Dole Cannery on June 15 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Judges, including Jake Shimabukuro, Michele Saito, and Taizo Braden from Hawaii News Now, will select the overall winner.
Grand Prize
The four finalists who compete at the competition on June 15, 2011 will receive a $50 gas card.
All entrants who meet the contest criteria will receive Jake Shimabukuro’s latest CD: Peace Love Ukulele.
